"The constitutional monarchy of the kingdom was (is) a democracy! Hello? Everyone could vote -- until, that is, the racist haole's forced a revision of the constitution (the process of which was wholly undemocratic and itself unconstitutional as it was never properly ratified) creating a property requirement for voting modelled after Jim Crow laws and disenfranchising many of the non-white population. (And under the RoH it was even worse, nothing more than an autocratic oligarchy, and Dole was never actually elected president.) Under the kingdom, everyone could participate in government. A future independent government may or may not have a monarchial component (like dozens of other countries that are full modern democracies) and would certainly not be less democratic that the kingdom was. Seems like no matter how much we repeat stuff here, it doesn't seem to sink in. "

The "truth" you reference seems to be classic propoganda. There are no "do overs" when it comes to history. What rights or freedoms are those of Hawaiian descent deprived of under our current system of governmnet? Aren't all people more free in a democracy than under a monarchy? Is the issue about reparations? I'd likle a simple summary of what this thing is trying to achieve. At face value, it looks like it's all about money and power.

Wow I'm surprised that a military spouse wants to know. I'm Hawaiian and my husband helps design places for the soldiers to use to against our enemies. I am 100% pro-American and a registered Republican and 100% pro-Kingdom of Hawaii. However I am against the Akaka Bill not because of the reasons that the Grassroots Institute have been marketing. Instead it's on the human level and I know many Hawaiians (I mean to refer to people of Hawaiian ancestry as opposed to Hawaiian nationals) who are against the Akaka Bill. OHA does not speak for us.

Anyway I appreciate it when people ask for the opinions of Hawaiians. It's pretty cool to go the people whom the bill is about. Oh and thanks to the soldiers for their hard work.

Are there, by law , to be two or three or more classes of citizens? Or, are only Hawaiians with native ancestry to be citizens? Who will profit? Someone once said;"follow the money". I think we should.----HHH

I'm interested in what all hawaiians have to say, not just the kanaka maoli. The kingdom of 1893 was multi-racial, just as our society today is. Everyone should have a voice, not just those with 1 drop.
