“We are all different and we all get along . . . Problems are caused when the government gives another group more or less rights because of their differences.”
June Arunga of Kenya. Quoted by Victoria Hurst, student, Kahuku High School. Honolulu Star-Bulletin 2/20/06 page D5.
Does that quote promote any thought about the proposed Akaka bill?

Man’s fundamental right is to life and to be free. The government does not give this right to anyone. It is a natural right. One might say it is God given but never government given. It is the governments moral obligation to recognize man’s rights and not that of a group. After all, man is the smallest minority.
The Akaka bill imposes on everyone in this country who works and pays taxes.
The Akaka bill imposes on those who live here who are not recognized as native; thus recognizing the group as having the right to life above all others. The worst form of descrimination. That action would hold the government accountable for violating the rights of others.
The Akaka bill, if passed, will pave the path for more bills of its kind that will only serve to divide the people of the United States.
