We’re not getting the whole story on gambling deal

In the News Tribune of Tacoma Washington on Feb 16, 2007, Dan Voelpel reports on a complicated Washington state story about Indian Gaming permitting and Governor Gregoire’s involvement. It seems the governor opposes gambling but supports it if Indians run things. Voelpel then investigates campaign contributions from tribes with some startling results.

This subject is very relevant to the proposed Akaka bill which provides for meeting between federal, state and new native Hawaiian nation representatives to take people and land and assign them to the new entity.

Could you imagine money sloshing around here and there pointed toward influencing outcomes? The Indian Tribes are very supportive of the Akaka bill. They have lots of money. Keen interest and lots of money might well produce something like bribery.
